CRITERIA

The Rozsa Foundation funds Calgary-based not for profit arts organizations that have charitable registration numbers. The Foundation funds performing arts, literary and visual arts, festivals, but not filmmakers. Typically, the Foundation supports between five and ten organizations each year, and strives to ensure that there is a mix of artistic genres, and size of companies.

Contributions to endowments may be considered. The Foundation does not fund travel expense, administrative salaries nor provide deficit financing. Start-up programs are eligible and new projects are always welcomed.

Please note: The primary objective of the Rozsa Foundation is to strengthen local arts organizations. When reviewing a funding request, the following aspects of your organization will be the most important considerations: governance, financial stability, and the capacity to carry out the proposed initiative.

Successful applicants can expect to work directly with a Rozsa Foundation member.

TYPES OF GRANTS

Capacity Building                                         

1. Professional and Leadership Development.      

2. Organizational Development which funds strategic and succession planning, governance review, improvement of financial systems, legal compliance, web upgrades. Feasibility studies for capital campaigns may also be considered.      

3. Infrastructure Development which funds hardware necessary to realize an exhibition or performance.

Educational                                                 

1. Programs that foster artistic development within an organization.

2. Programs such as competitions that educate members of the public.                            

Collaborative Projects    

1. Community Celebration programs that bring many artistic collaborators together.    

2. Partnership Development, whether artistic or financial.
