Calgary Society of
Animated Objects C.A.O.S. is working to
present the White Buffalo Women legend at Pow Wows across
Alberta, and the Rozsa Foundation is supporting this
endeavour. In order to achieve this goal, the blessing of
Native Elders was necessary. Once obtained, the twelve
foot tall puppet needed to be constructed and made to
move. Costumes and regalia was added. How is this being
accomplished? Through innovative partnerships and
collaboration. Engineering students from the Schulich
School, the Native Brotherhood in Drumhellar, and local
artists have provided manpower. The community
has had a glimpse of this project at the 2007 Stampede
Parade, and hopefully will see the finished product in
2009. This kind of community involvement and impact is a
high priority for the Foundation.
