OUR VALUE

Artistic expression is essential to the well-being of the individual and the community.

OUR VISION

The experience of artistic expression is accessible to all members of the community: individual talent is developed, organizational capacity is enhanced, and opportunities for community participation are provided.

OUR MISSION

We acknowledge the value of the Arts through grants, community involvement and public dialogue, focusing on not-for-profit arts companies active in the City of Calgary.

Observation One: Sound business practises in arts management are often overlooked, making that field of professional endeavour unattractive. Without strong leaders, on-going professional development, and financial investment in business processes, arts organizations face an enormous sustainability challenge.

In Response: The Rozsa Foundation fosters leadership development and administrative enhancement within the arts sector through the annual Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management, and targeted capacity building grants.

Observation Two: Arts education is not a priority in the public school system which limits development of artistic abilities and appreciation of artistic expression.

In Response: The Rozsa Foundation supports educational and engaging arts initiatives aimed at sizable audiences.

Observation Three: Arts proportionately receive fewer investment dollars than other sectors. This discourages both risk-taking by donors and innovation by art organizations, and deprives the public of artistic richness and challenge.

In Response: The Rozsa Foundation funds artistic development, and promotes collaborative endeavours.

Finally, The Rozsa Foundation also provides operational monies to a variety of non-profit agencies working in other fields through donor advised funds.
